Digestive Tract

Exciting 2nd week at school! The children are learning about the human body. We have discussed the parts of a body: the children loved exploring the skeleton in the discovery center. We made a simple stethoscope and the children enjoyed hearing each others heart beat. We then compared the design of our stethoscope with an actual one, and listened to our heart beats before and after exercising. We talked about our digestive tracts! As you can imagine it lead to many interesting comments, questions and amazing group discussion. So much fun to see the children’s amazement and understanding through our experiments. They are learning why it necessary to eat a well balanced diet, the importance of chewing our food, the role of our saliva, the esophagus, the stomach, stomach fluids, small and large intestine and the body’s way of getting rid of waste!
